Jessica's iDevelop Literacy Learning Story

Learner: Jessica F            Learning Coach: Bex Remington            Date: 1 April 2015
Learning Area: iDevelop - Literacy: Reading
Learning Observed

During our literacy session, learners are able to choose from a range of independent activities. I have noticed the Jessica enjoys the free writing choice.  She is able to choose her topic of writing and how the writing is presented.  She tends to write narrative stories and can write for a sustained amount of time.  I have noticed that Jessica likes to write while she is sitting in a group and she shares in the small group to get even more ideas.  When I asked Jessica to share a piece of writing with me she was excited to share a poem that she had just written.
Evidence of learning
This is Jessica sharing her poem:

Key Competencies/Vision Principles

Jessica enjoys writing and demonstrates the ability to understand language, symbols and text. She is happy to share her writing with others and use some of their ideas which means she understands how to relate to others. She is developing her capability in writing and it will be exciting to see her written work change and grow as the year goes on.
Next Learning Steps

  • To share her writing with a wider audience
  • To create collaborative pieces of writing with other people in her group
  • Begin using different genres of writing other than narrative

  1. Hi Mrs Remington,
I still remember when I wrote the poem I can't believe that it was one day before my birthday!
